Here at the cellar door, you can enjoy a tasting of the full range of wines. However, we encourage all to linger awhile, savour a glass of wine and graze on options from our cellar door menu - over a game of croquet in the much-celebrated hedge.
Standard tastings are charged at $10 per person (complementary to Melba Estate Club members) which is redeemable on any full bottle purchase. Group tastings are charged at $10 per person. Please note that no refunds on tasting are offered for groups of 6 or more.
The cellar door is currently not accepting group bookings for wine tastings and only accepting walk in wine tastings for groups of six or less.
Just 5km north of the Melba Estate, the 120-acre Coombe Farm vineyard is one of the oldest in the valley, and is still owned and operated by Melba's descendants, the Vestey family. Having supplied grapes to some of Australia's most recognised producers, an increasing portion of fruit is now being grown and selected specifically for the Coombe Farm brand.
The range features fine, traditional style sparkling and elegant, cool climate tables wines that are classically varietal and regionally expressive. All wines are handcrafted in small volumes, from fruit deemed to be the best the vineyard has to offer.
Our Estate wines are a reflection of the distinct terroir of the valley soils, an uncompromising approach to quality and 100 years of family legacy. Made from premium Yarra fruit, the range personifies the unique varietal characters of the region. Ideal to drink now, but may benefit from age.
The Tribute Series wines represent our finest, single site expressions. Barrels are handpicked just prior to blending ensure they align with the quality standard we have grown to expect. The wines are crafted with distinctive sophistication and artistry, a fitting homage to Melba.
The first Victorian grapes were planted in the Yarra Valley in 1838, making it the oldest wine region in Victoria. Less than an hour’s drive from the Melbourne CBD and made up of over 3,600 hectares under vine, the Yarra Valley’s climate, soil and local creatives work to strengthen the bond between wine and the land it originates from.
Today we are amongst over eighty Yarra Valley wine producers, a region celebrated for its world-class cool climate Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Sparkling wines.
